A Charming Couple from the Collection of Randy McKeithan

Once again, thank you so much to Randy for sharing his expansive collection! This one is a favorite of mine. It is so intimate. It shows a young couple in a rather private place enjoying each other's company. It would be so interesting to know whatever became of them but alas, I think that is a secret swallowed up by the past. All we know about them is what this photograph captured in this very moment in time. Lucky for us, it is a very clear photo, and it offers some great insight into what this young woman is wearing. She is wearing a hat that is very typical of the 1940s. It sits at the back of her head and frames her face. It appears her hair is curled and simply styled. Her coat is one that is very typical of the 1940s as well. It has a strong shoulder line, a large collar, buttons, and has a matching belt. On her legs she is wearing a very dark stocking.  Her shoes have a great sheen to them like a patent leather (which was seen in the 1940s but not all that common) or else they are a leather shoe with one heck of a polishing job.

I really like her attire here. It is practical for the cooler weather or the rain and yet can be easily replicated by a reenactor because there is nothing too fancy or elaborate about her attire. As clean and simple as her look is, it's really lovely.
