Children's Wear for 1941

Children's wear! Let's talk about how to dress the little ones for events. This post was inspired by a request from a reader, and I promptly went digging into my collection because I really want this to be a resource for reenactors. That being said, if you are looking for something in particular and need some help finding it, just ask! I am happy to try to help. Anyways, back at it. Today I am going to show you all the images from my 1941 Der Golden Schnitt book regarding children's clothing. This book has everything for infants to toddlers to juniors to teenagers (and beyond into adulthood). There are dresses, aprons, suits, and more. I am especially fond of the matching outfits for the brothers and sisters. As you flip through these images, note the styles of shoes, socks (short and knee high) and hair. Many of the youths in these pages have short or bobbed hair. Short hair was most popular on younger children more than it was on adults especially for the 1940s. Coats and winter wear are included as well. If you notice, the coats are quite short, that was a style trend for the 1940s.

I hope that these images prove to be useful as a resource in getting your children dressed for events!
